Capitalism, the Wonder of Man.

Capitalism by H.D. Ingles

A friend of mine, both personal and Facebook, is a man who produces more posts than any other six dozen people combined, and he had a post the other day which outraged me.

Before I continue, I am obliged to say that the guy puts out all kinds of stuff; some I like, some I don’t understand, some I ignore, and some which really irritate me.

Anyway, this particular post was composed of such emotional nonsense that a full reply was required to be a separate post.

The post said something on the order of “… Capitalist narrative … a man’s worth is based on his productivity.”

Examples

Good heavens, of course it is. If productivity is a “Capitalist narrative,” then it is something which has been around for millennia. Understand here that someone productive doesn’t always produce something tangible, such as a new machine. Examples (I love examples):
> Soldiers and police produce protection for us.
> Some great men and women produce and have produced marvelous ideas.
> A housewife produces a well-run and as well-fed as possible home environment.
> Lower skilled workers produce an easier way of life for us: janitor, trash collector, etc.

I sort of like the idea that if you work hard and strive to better yourself, you become valuable, not only to yourself, but to others.

I sort of like the idea that if you start a successful business, you not only make more money, you provide a service which others need.

If you don’t get the idea here, then next time vote for “Uncle Joe” Stalin, currently running under the name of Bernie Sanders, or vote for some crazy broad who wants all of your money.

By the way, if you rankle at the term “housewife,” I’m old and I really don’t care.

As always, if you don’t like the way I think, that’s just plain tough.
