Almost everybody has at least one idol…

Almost everybody has at least one idol...winston churchil-

Almost everybody has at least one idol. You know, people they admire and respect.

It seems that many have idols such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Brad Pitt, and such. Oh yes, let’s throw in Bonnie and Clyde. (Why not?)

My little brain runs in a slightly different direction. My idols are Alexander, Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Nelson, Lee, MacArthur, Eisenhower, Churchill, and Reagan.

Winston Churchill

Speaking of Winston Churchill which, if you read the previous paragraph, I was. In my way of thinking, there is no doubt that he was the Man of the Twentieth Century. His strength, courage, and leadership gave the English people the grit to fight on until the Americans entered the War.

By the way, if you are young and don’t understand just how serious World War II was, read a little history, and I don’t mean Twenty-First Century made up “facts.” If you aren’t aware, the thing was touch-and-go for a while, even after the U.S. entered the fighting. To put it another way, there was, for a short while, a chance that the East Cost would be speaking German, and the West Coast speaking Japanese.

I just read what I wrote and I realized that most of that stuff had nothing to do with my original intention. You see, it’s like this, quite frequently, my mind meanders meaninglessly. I started with that “idol” business to get to Churchill. Churchill led me to think about the War. Then, Bingo, off I went.

Churchill’s Way With Words

My original idea was to just tell you a little quip produced by Churchill. If you don’t know, Winston Churchill had an almost magical way with words. His rhetoric was brilliant and his command of the English language was phenomenal. And one more thing, as with most intelligent men, he had a tremendous sense of humor.

Anyway this is why I started this whatever you call it. Churchill said, “Ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put.” Now, that’s funny.
