I seem to have ruffled a lot of feathers. How Bad Can It Be?
The Crime I Committed
Quite recently, I published a blog on my website and posted it on Facebook, “What is Religion? What is Faith?”. It was not at all preachy. I pushed neither religion nor faith. All I said was how I handled those things and how I felt about the whole shooting match.
Well, given some of the Facebook comments, one would have thought I was Martin Luther nailing his “95 Theses” to a church door in 1517. Or worse, preaching fire and brimstone.
The Upside
I received quite a few positive comments, and a whole bunch of “Likes”.
The Downside
The negative comments were lulus.
The Downside, Personal Attacks
I am an ignorant hillbilly. Well, that one is partially true, I was born in West Virginia.
I don’t understand a figure of speech.
I am uneducated and don’t speak the language very well. As a matter of fact, I was asked if English was my native language.
I am attempting to incite people with my own false beliefs.
I am a white male conservative over 50, all of which is true. But the kicker is that he is waiting for me and all like me to die. Talk about broad-minded. Wow!
I think you get the idea here.
The Downside, Attacks On Religion and Faith
There were many comments that, in general, attacked religion and faith.
There were many comments that, in general, attacked those who had religion and faith. On that one, those people are as ignorant as I am.
There were some comments that went off into politics and abortion. I have no idea how some nut could come up with that stuff.
There were two or so anti-religious comments that were beyond the pale. Those, I deleted.
Again, I think you get the idea here.
How I Handled the Downside
I had quite a few back and forth arguments and tried to explain that I was attempting to tell nobody either what or how to think. That didn’t seem to work.
I tried to be courteous but, for the most part, that was to no avail.
My Final Thoughts
If somebody makes a comment on one of my posts that has nothing to do with the post, go away.
If you believe me to be an ignorant hillbilly, then why in the hell are you reading what I wrote?
